#blanket4warmth: give a blanket give life

In phew months winter will arrive to many countries and each year thousands die of hypothermia or diseases related to the consequences of living inappropriately in such harsh conditions. I would like you to read this post and help me prevent this, I promise I won´t sound like a YouTube add.

Something that really shocked me is the amount of people that each year dies because of consequences of the harsh cold: hypothermia, strokes, heart attacks, embolism and the list goes on with a common conclusion, death. According to Clare Murphy (BBC Health correspondent) “for every degree the temperature drops below 18°C (64°F), deaths in the UK go up by nearly 1.5%”; “Age UK” in the year 2012 reported a total amount of 24.000 deaths related to direct consequences of living in cold homes.

According the article published in “The Telegraph” the 16th of February of 2012: “authorities in Russia said 205 people have died this year in the frigid cold, while Ukraine has had 112 cold fatalities and Poland had 107. Seven people have died in Romania in the past 24 hours, bringing the total there to 86 deaths. In Lithuania, there have been 23 deaths. Deaths were also reported in Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia.

So the only thing that I ask you is if you take away the blanket from the airplane please give to someone that really needs it; someone that may actually use the warmth and protection of the blanket. Is not a hard thing to do and by doing so you may really help someone else. Of course that a blanket won´t help much when temperatures reaches -10°C (14°F) but at least they would have some extra defense to protect against the hard conditions. If you have the will to do it you won´t have to do much effort. I´m not saying: “go and steal what´s considered to be an airline property”, I´m just saying that if you are going to take it with you just give it to someone else who can actually give it a real use.

Please forward it to your friends and acquaintances it will only take one second (only one second to try to make a change in the conscious of someone else and by doing so you may be helping a person in need): Facebook – Twitter – Instagram – Blog – BBM – What´s up, use the media that suits you the best. I know that you may do it and I know that you may understand what is to suffer from “something” in this world; if you do this you will diminish someone else´s pain.

What´s up / BBM example:

“Hey -X- how was your trip? If you took the airplane blanket with you give it to someone in real need, winter is coming and you know how cruel that may be”.
